Nobody buys complex equipment from a spec sheet. Specifications confirm a decision, but they rarely create one. What creates the decision is understanding, the moment a buyer genuinely grasps what your product does, how it does it and why that matters to their operation. For complex industrial products, a well crafted demonstration video is the fastest route to that moment ever devised.
Colourberry has produced product demonstration content for more than 30 years, for manufacturers including Toyota, Ford, Kenworth and Crown Lift Trucks, spanning everything from battery systems and cleaning machinery to advanced vehicle concepts. Our particular strength is combining two disciplines most studios keep separate: cinema grade live action filming and engineering accurate 3D animation, in one seamless video.
Why demonstration beats description
A written description of a product is an argument. A demonstration is proof. When a prospect watches your machine complete a real task, objections dissolve that no brochure could answer. Does it really handle that capacity? Watch it. How fast is the changeover? Watch it. What does the operator actually do? Watch it. Demonstration video converts because seeing a product work removes the risk of believing a claim.
Demonstration video also travels where your equipment cannot. It sits on a trade show screen while the product is on the other side of the country, plays in a sales meeting overseas, and runs on your website around the clock. For large, installed or hazardous equipment, video is often the only demonstration most buyers will ever see before purchase.
Live action: the credibility layer
We film every demonstration in stunning 6K using Red Digital Cinema cameras, in your facility or in the field, with the product doing genuine work. Real footage carries an honesty audiences sense immediately: the sound of the machine, the material moving through it, the operator at the controls. Our crews have filmed in workshops, ports, test facilities and live sites across the engineering, manufacturing, automotive, marine and defence sectors, so demanding environments are familiar territory rather than an obstacle.
Resolution matters here more than most realise. 6K capture lets us punch into fine detail, a coupling engaging, a gauge responding, a weld line, without softness, and reframe the same footage for everything from cinema screens at trade shows to vertical cuts for LinkedIn.
3D animation: the understanding layer
Cameras stop at the housing. The cleverest part of most industrial products is internal, invisible, or too fast, too slow or too dangerous to film. This is where our 3D pipeline takes over. We import your engineering CAD data, often assemblies of thousands of components, texture it to match the real product, and animate it with physics accurate simulation using real gravity, friction and mass values. Cutaways, exploded views, cross sections and internal mechanisms become as filmable as the exterior.
A recent example: for our long standing client Birdon, we animated their Automated Decontamination Unit, a remotely operated machine that cleans drilling pipe segments from offshore decommissioning programmes using ultra high pressure jetting, a process no camera could safely capture at close range. The animation shows exactly what the machine does and why it matters, with an accuracy only real CAD data can provide.
One studio, one seamless result
The magic happens when the two layers cut together. The video moves from the real machine on the workshop floor into its digital twin, through the mechanism, and back out to the operator, without a visible seam, because both layers are finished in the same DaVinci Resolve Studio pipeline by the same team. Toyota Design called us a one stop shop for digital filming and animation on an advanced vehicle CAD concept model, and that integration is precisely the point: one brief, one team, one budget, one coherent film.
Studios that only film must skip the internals. Studios that only animate lack the credibility of real footage. Owning both disciplines is rare, and for complex products it is decisive.
Every product video becomes a content family
A master demonstration video is never the only deliverable. From one production we cut trade show loops, LinkedIn shorts, email campaign assets, tender attachments and website content, each shaped to its channel. Through our monthly marketing service, those assets are then actually deployed, put in front of the industries you serve through search, social and email, rather than left to gather views by accident.
Scripting a demonstration that sells
The difference between a demonstration that informs and one that converts is structure. We script around the buyer’s problem first, the downtime, the labour cost, the safety exposure, the bottleneck, then present the product as its resolution, with the demonstration sequence ordered by what the buyer cares about rather than by the product’s spec sheet. Features appear in service of outcomes: not a 40 percent faster cycle time as an abstract number, but what that cycle time does to a shift’s output. Technical audiences do not need persuasion dressed as entertainment. They need clear proof, well organised, and that is exactly what a disciplined script delivers.
Voiceover, captions and music are chosen for the contexts the video will live in. Trade show versions work silently with bold supers. Web versions carry full narration. Sales team versions sometimes drop music entirely, so an engineer can talk over the footage in a meeting. One master, many lives.
Frequently asked questions
Our product is at a customer site. Can you still film it? Usually, yes. We are experienced at arranging access, inductions and permissions with third party site owners, and where filming truly is not possible, the CAD based animation pipeline carries the load.
Our CAD files are sensitive. How is that handled? With the seriousness you would expect from a studio that has handled pre release vehicle concepts for major manufacturers and content for the defence sector. Files are handled securely, shared only within the project team, and we are comfortable working under NDA as standard.
Can you update the video when the product evolves? Yes. We retain project files, so a revised component, new branding or an additional variant becomes an economical update rather than a new production.
The final measure of any demonstration video is simple: does the sales team use it? Ours get used, in meetings, in follow up emails, in tenders and on stands, because they are built with the sales conversation in mind from the first line of the script.
If your product is easier to demonstrate than to describe, and most great products are, a demonstration video will outsell every document you have ever written.
